Though first published in 1861, Carl Keil and Franz Delitzsch's Commentary on the Old Testament is still considered one of the best works in its field among conservative Bible scholars. About the Author(s)

Johann K. F. Keil (Feb. 26, 1807 - May 5, 1888) was a German Lutheran scholar. He taught Old and New Testament exegesis and Oriental languages. In addition to collaborating with Franz Delitzsch on their Old Testament commentary, he wrote many other books.

Franz J. Delitzsch (Feb. 23, 1813-March 4, 1890) was a German Lutheran Old Testament scholare and theologian. Though a Christian, he was of Jewish descent, and worked to advance our understanding of the Jewish background of the New Testament, including producing a translation of the New Testament into Hebrew.
