Description

Due to its complex layout, this product is not compatible with the Windows versions of PocketBible. This will be resolved with the next major release of PocketBible for Windows.

This collection of Greek New Testaments and Greek lexicon will help you get started studying the New Testament in its original language. If you are new to the Greek language, links from the text to the included dictionary will help you understand the original words that underlie our English translations of the New Testament.

The collection features three different parsed Greek New Testaments in which each word is tagged with a literal English translation of the word, its equivalent Strong's number, and its morphology (part of speech). The collection also includes the Reader's Edition of Robinson and Pierpont's New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform (2005). This version is identical to the parsed version except that it includes accents, capitalization, and punctuation to make it more readable to someone familiar with biblical Greek.

Strong's numbers and parts of speech in the parsed New Testaments are linked to the included analytical lexicon. Strong's numbers will link to any other dictionary you own that contains Strong's number definitions.

The included Laridian Analytical Greek New Testament is indexed by Strong's number and by Greek spelling. It shows definitions for the dictionary form of each word and the morphological parsing of each inflected spelling of the word used in the included New Testaments. Because not everyone is familiar with the terminology used when parsing Greek words, a dictionary of grammar and parsing terms is included, along with a complete list of the abbreviations used in the morphological tags. Each is expanded and linked to the definition.

Bundle Contents

Three "parsed" Greek New Testaments:

  • The New Testament in the Original Greek: Westcott and Hort parsed with NA27 variants.
  • Greek New Testament: Stephens' Editio Regia (1550) "Textus Receptus" parsed with Scrivener variants.
  • The New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform (2005) parsed with Byzantine and NA27 variants by Robinson and Pierpont.

Each of the above is tagged with a literal English translation, Strong's numbers, and morphology (part of speech). The text is presented in an interlinear format. That is, the literal English, Strong's numbers, and morphology tags appear below the Greek words in the verse.

In addition, this collection includes a "Reader's Edition" of the Byzantine text: Robinson and Pierpont's The New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform 2005 with NA27/UBS4 variants. This text is identical to the parsed Byzantine Textform, above, but with accents, capitalization, and punctuation.

Finally, the collection includes the Laridian Analytical Greek Lexicon indexed by both Strong's numbers and Greek spellings. The lexicon includes inflected forms of words from the New Testaments included in the bundle along with their morphology and Strong's concordance number. Terms used when parsing the text are linked to definitions, and the Strong's number is linked to the definition of the word. For the "dictionary form" of each word, a brief definition is given, along with Strong's number for the word. The lexicon also includes a dictionary of all the morphological tags used to identify part-of-speech in the included New Testaments, with links to detailed definitions of each term.
